Integrated Science builds up science concepts introduced in grade school level with activities and exercises that make science learning fun while weaving together earth science, biology, chemistry, and physics.

Biology discusses recent studies on AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases; plant, animal, and human cloning; genetically modified organisms and food crops; and a host of modern topics and discoveries.

Chemistry focuses on new energy on teaching the basic principles of chemistry and thoroughly explores the quintessential knowledge required for future study and achievements.

Physics emphasizes the role of energy in the societal and human development and introduces technological innovations and findings that will pave the way to the future of mankind.

The Textbook complies with the Restructured Basic Education Curriculum prescribed by the Department of Education (DepEd) in 2002. The textbook highlights the following:

  • Clarity of discussion that will make students appreciate the sciences more
  • Chapter openers that will guide both students and teachers in the flow of lessons in every chapter
  • Chapter enders to help students evaluate their own performance
  • Cyber Trip that will get the readers website-hopping for related topics and discussions

The Laboratory Manual includes activities and exercises that will support classroom discussion, simulate actual processes as they happen in nature, and provide practical applications of concepts and theories learned in the classroom.

The Teachers Guide provides direction in enhancing the teaching-learning process. It contains simple and practical student-centered activities that produce effective learning.

The Syllabus for each year level presents a course road map that will direct the flow of learning. It describes how the teacher will carry out the teaching-learning process.

Dr. Ernesto Y. Sibal was one of the few Filipinos in academic publishing who can irrefutably lay claim to these three titles—Patriot, Pioneer and Innovator. A staunch patriot, Dr. Sibal fiercely advocated the vision of designating Filipino-authored books for young Filipino learners. This vision was enabled by the establishment of Alemar’s Bookstore in 1958, and through the foresight and drive of Alegria Rodriguez, who shared in the vision of her husband, she helped galvanize then fledgling Alemar's Bookstore as the place to go for textbooks and school needs, propelling it to become the first established bookstore chain in the country.
