Develops students’ self-reliance through technological skills!

Technology and Livelihood Education levels I–IV allow the high school students to be involved in activity-centered lessons that explore career, utilize technology, and develop skills. This course introduces students to career exploration and selection processes, and provides information regarding additional courses and training related to the student’s career field of interests.

Technology and Livelihood Education series covers major components, namely, Home Economics, Food and Nutrition, Agriculture and Fishery Arts, and Entrepreneurship.

The Textbook contains well-thought-out lessons utilizing varied approaches for relevant learnings. It also features a glossary of terms and a list of references that may be used for further readings.

The Teachers Guide helps teachers maximize the textbook’s effectiveness in teaching students the basic knowledge and skills in technology and livelihood education.

Here are the features of the series:

• Activity‑oriented. The series equips high schoolers with knowledge and skills on technology and home economics and develops their interests, attitudes, and values toward work through various activities that may be done at home or in school.
• Comprehensive. The series covers lessons in home management health care; food production, management, and service; dressmaking; tailoring; and related crafts.
• Practical. The series highlights useful learning experiences that prepare students to engage in home-based industries.
• Learner-friendly. The series provides guide questions and a list of tasks at the end of each chapter to evaluate the students’ learnings and develop their skills further.

The Textbook contains a list of concepts to be learned in each chapter. It also features a glossary of terms and a list of references that may be used for further readings.

The Teachers Guide helps teachers maximize the textbook’s effectiveness in teaching students the basic knowledge and skills in home economics. It contains classroom-tested strategies that teachers can use in teaching the lessons. It provides sample lessons for each chapter that can be modified according to the needs of students.

Technology and Home Economics I and II provide a more meaningful way to learn the concepts and skills of responsible family living through the books’ use of values education techniques.

Books I and II present the complete components of the course—home economics, fishery arts, industrial arts, agricultural arts, and entrepreneurship.

Technology and Home Economics III and IV elaborate on the following subjects:

Basic Computer Education acquaints students with the parts and functions of a computer.

Basic Electronics equips students with basic concepts and skills in electronics as it deals with lessons on resistance, capacitance, inductance, transistor circuits, and radio receivers.

Culinary Arts deals with basic concepts, principles, and techniques in baking and food preservation. It has a special section on preparing native delicacies.

Dressmaking arms high schoolers with the know‑how in organizing and managing dressmaking and fashion designing businesses.

Food Management and Service emphasizes the values of good health through meal planning, food preparation, cooking, and other aspects of food management.

Related Crafts equips students with the necessary knowledge and expertise in the different areas of embroidery, Irish crochet, quilt making, recycling, and fabric painting.

The Textbook encourages the active participation of students in all activities using resources available in the community. The textbook offers practical lessons that develop students’ entrepreneurial skills and experience and provides them technical training in business ventures.

The Teachers Guide provides detailed lesson plans and teaching strategies to help teachers in the presentation of lessons in the textbook.
